Our Enjun Speaks at Showa Medical University Recurrent College

Enjun Hiyoshi, Representative of madocaproject, spoke at Showa Medical University Recurrent College for the course "Medicine and Views on Life and Death." This marks his third time lecturing for this program.

Exploring his lifelong theme of "views on life and death" from various perspectives, Enjun shared memorable end-of-life cases from his experience in palliative care, messages left by a Japanese singer Minako Honda, stories of Tora-san, and the role of religion in Japanese society. He emphasized the profound meaning behind this theme, stating, "Reflecting on death is not a dark endeavor; rather, it is a quiet way to re-examine how we live our lives today."

He also shared his vision for addressing the complex challenges of modern society that single institutions—such as medical, administrative, or educational fields—cannot solve alone. He stressed the importance of maximizing local resources, particularly Buddhist temples, to collaborate and build a broader community safety net.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Yusuke Takamiya, Visiting Professor of Medical Education at Showa Medical University School of Medicine, for his kind invitation and ongoing support.
